Malachi 2:17 – 3:7
What a blessing to have most of my traveling behind for 2012, although, I have been blessed in my time in Wyoming (February), Israel (March), Southeast Asia (May), and vacation in Virginia and South Carolina (July). No wonder it seems as
if this year is just “flying by.”
In the midst of everything we have been diligently searching for the individual that God would have to come and lead our Educational Ministries (Sunday School, Discipleship, etc.). After receiving and reviewing more than 50 resumes, we are now in prayer about 3 or 4 individuals, and I would encourage you to join us in praying for wisdom and knowledge of God’s will in this very significant position in the life of Hillcrest.
Once we progress to the point that we have direction and knowledge of the will of God our Personnel Ministry Team, along with other leadership will establish timelines for interviews, and presentation to all the directly impacted areas of ministry, and then ultimately to the church body for approval.
We have currently been blessed to have Kenneth Priest from the Southern Baptist Convention of Texas as our interim for the past 6 months. However, due to Kenneth being such a gifted leader, he is being promoted to a new position of greater demand and will need to leave us by the end of August. Kenneth will continue to offer any wisdom and advice until a time that we have filled our Minister of Education position.
I look forward to seeing you each Sunday as we come together to worship Him and encourage one another in our growth in Him.
I have just a couple of things to report this month that are happening around the business office and Hillcrest Baptist Church facilities these days.
PSK (an accounting firm out or Arlington Texas) performed the field work portion of a financial review the week of July 17th. PSK is experienced and well respected in the world of non-profit organizations, especially churches. The Finance Ministry Team authorized and budgeted for this review. Hillcrest Baptist Church has had outside firms perform financial reviews for several years and is of great benefit and assistance to the finance office as we strive to execute our
duties with honor, integrity and transparency.
I will take this opportunity to give a special thank you to Tonya David. Tonya is of enormous assistance to me and as our Financial Director, she does her work faithfully and as an offering unto the LORD, both selflessly and with diligence.
We are also in the process of installing a master keying system on the interior doors of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. If you have keys to the interior doors of the church, please be patient with us as we implement this new system and redistribute keys to those that need them.
Community Groups are the arms, feet and mouths of our ministry. Our Community Groups are designed to look into God’s Word and talk about life in a relaxed, small group setting. At the same time these groups are designed to be reproducing. We reproduce our Community Groups because we can disciple more people and reach more people if we multiply ourselves rather than if we try and do it on our own. This means as you come and get plugged into a Community Group, pray about how God can use you with in the group to reproduce your group.
Community Groups meet on the campuses of Northwood, University of Texas at Arlington and Dallas Baptist University. There are two other Community Groups, which meet during the week, that are not on campuses. One meets in the Student Building at Hillcrest Baptist Church and the other is a Community Groups geared towards international students who meet in a home. If you are interested in locating a Community Group near you please contact us.
Every third Thursday, we provide meals for all the Community Groups. This allows for the Groups just to enjoy some sweet community.
Let us know where you would like to meet and which day works best for you.

Malachi 2:10-16
Would you like to be involved in a ministry where you can share the love of Jesus with others? Then please consider becoming part of the Hillcrest English as a Second Language (ESL) Ministry team.
Classes begin September 10, from 6:00-8:00 PM and will meet every Monday until the end of May, 2013.
Below is a list of areas where we are seeking volunteers. Prayerfully consider if this is a place where you can serve and help reach a family for Christ. Having our church members involved speaks very loudly to our students. You DO NOT HAVE TO SPEAK SPANISH in order to help us. Our students are here to learn English, which is the language you speak.
Hospitality
Volunteers are needed to provide snacks such as cookies, chips, fruit, and veggies. We would love to have homemade cookies. If you prefer, we also accept financial donations.
Teacher Aides
Teacher Aides are needed to help the teachers assist the students one-on-one, which is especially important in the lower levels.
Childcare Assistants
Volunteers are needed to provide childcare for babies and pre-K children. This can be done on a rotating basis.
Child Tutoring Aides
Child Tutoring Aides work with Tammy Brooks as she coordinates and oversees the tutoring program for the children of our students, grades 1-6
Prayer
We are seeking church members (or even a Sunday School class) that would be willing to pray for this Ministry regularly. Please pray for the outreach impact of this ministry, the students and their families and the teachers and volunteers serving.
For more information or to volunteer for one of these positions, please fill out the form below.

Day 3…Our LITs were eager to get out and serve and tell other kids about Jesus! We prayed for beautiful weather, with no rain, and God answered our prayers.

Site 3: LITs leading the kids in praise & worship.

At the beginning of each power camp, the LITs lead the kids in an ice breaker game. Here they are playing “duck, duck goose”.

Site 2: Having a great time singing praise and worship!

Site 5 Group!

Maddie making friends with some of the girls!

Matthew presenting the gospel to kids! God is definitely using these kids for His Glory!

Ryan, one of the preteens from GHBC, telling the Bible story for the day.

Logan sharing his testimony with a group of kids his own age. It’s amazing to see the preteens sharing their story! God is good!

Glen spending some time with one of the younger girls.

Every day the LITs teach the kids a new memory verse. They play a memory verse game to help them learn the verse. In this picture, Abby (preteen from GHBC) is teaching the kids the bible verse.

Each day a different LIT presents the gospel. Today Stephen presented the gospel.

After hearing the gospel presented, Stephanie made the decision to follow Christ.

For our afternoon activity on Tuesday, we had the opportunity to play BINGO at the Senior Center. Our LITs had such a great time playing with them!

Working hard and washing dishes.

LIT boys making homemade ice cream.

During our evening worship time our LITs have a chance to share praises and prayer requests from their groups.
