Today, in our sermon series “It Starts at Home,” we will be in Ephesians 5:22–33 learning about The Mystery Of Marriage.

We know that the institution of Biblical marriage has been greatly diminished, not only here in America but around the world. We have witnessed our culture’s attempt to redefine marriage through the judicial system, but we know that regardless of the laws of man, God’s Word and design for marriage always “trumps” the laws and definition of man.

Marriage has not only been under attack by our culture redefining it but also by rejecting it altogether. The rejection of biblical marriage is evidenced in two ways today: 1) Only 39% of young adults getting married today are getting married in churches, and 2) the number of Americans even getting married, according to a study by Rutgers University National Marriage Project, has seen a “catastrophic drop since 1960.”

As we will see this morning, one of the great reasons behind the decline is failure to live out a gospel-filled marriage and let our lives be authentic witnesses of God’s plan for marriage. Once again, it all “starts at home.”
