Good morning! I’m glad to welcome you to worship today at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Today we come to Part 2, “REAL WOMEN,” in our sermon series “REAL.” As I mentioned in the message last week on “REAL MEN,” to attempt to cover all there is in Scripture about “REAL WOMEN”–in one setting!–is like trying to take a drink of water from Old Faithful: it is simply impossible.
All through the scriptures we find many godly women who were influential in the message of the Gospel! Just a few who come to mind: Phoebe, the servant of the church at Cenchrea, who was commended by Paul; Rahab, the prostitute at Jericho, whose life was changed by the Gospel and who is later found in the genealogy of Christ in Matthew 1; Debra, the mighty warrior of the book of Judges; and many, many others.
Without question, God places great value on women. In Esther 2:5-20, we have a story of a godly woman, Esther, who was used of God to protect and preserve the Jews. Because of Esther’s godly traits, God was able to use her for His sovereign purpose. Whatever God has purposed for your life, the question for you as a woman is this: does your life reflect the godly characteristics which will allow Him to use you for His glory?
