Good morning! I’m glad to welcome you to worship today at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
We are living in days of rapid change, and all that is changing in our culture is producing a great deal of uncertainty. Daily we hear about the uncertainty of our nation’s economy. What used to seem to be a threat of changing moral values has now become a reality, and the changes that are now occurring rapidly with the opening of “Pandora’s box” have seemingly ushered in a plethora of moral decay. We are living at a time in which new leadership is about to take the helm of our nation, and there is definitely uncertainty regarding the shape and direction our government will be taking the next four to eight years. With the uncertainty of our next president, we also have the feeling of uncertainty for our Supreme Court of the United States, with the need of an immediate new appointment and possibly two to three other appointees that will make decisions impacting our overall moral and legal culture.
However, in the midst of all of this uncertainty, there is an absolute and glorious certainty and that is “Jesus Christ is coming back to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords,” and it could be very soon. In the meantime, are you ready for Christ’s return? If so, then live with confidence and do as John wrote, “Continue in Him.” So, until He returns, daily surrender your life to Christ, and rather than sitting back and watching all of the changes in our culture, go out and be an agent of change. Today we look at a message entitled “LIVE READY” from Matthew 24:36-44.
