Good morning! I’m glad to welcome you to worship today at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
In the first three chapters of Ruth we have learned of famine, family, funerals, barrenness and bitterness, and then the beginning of the return to blessings and hope. We have seen the sovereign hand of God directing the paths of Naomi and Ruth from a place of barrenness to a place of blessing.
Last week in chapter 3 we were introduced to a man by the name of Boaz, a relative of Naomi’s deceased husband Elimelech, and the subject of a “kinsman redeemer.” Today we will see the kinsman redeemer at work on behalf of Naomi and Ruth, as Boaz willingly exercises his rights and duties as he purchases the property of Elimelech/Naomi and marries Ruth. What a glorious blessing for Ruth and Naomi to have a kinsman that wanted and redeemed them.
Today in Ruth 4:1-12 we will see a beautiful picture of Christ, our Kinsman Redeemer, in “WANTED AND REDEEMED.”
