“Revival” is the spiritual renewal and reawakening from a state of apathy and coldness towards God in the life of a follower of Christ. Psalm 85:6 reads, “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”

Revival will renew a Christian’s love for God, His Word, His holiness, an awareness of sin, a spirit of humility, and a desire for personal growth and love for the things that God loves. In one sense, revival is renewing one’s walk with and love of Christ, which is marked by a life lived in obedience to God.

No doubt every believer would admit that they would desire a fresh movement of God in their life. The subject of revival is indeed very personal, but from personal revival God can fan the flames of the fires of a revival to ignite a church, a city, a county, a state and a country. Without question, there is a great need for personal, corporate, and national revival, but the revival will never come unless we each position ourselves in the presence of God, under the authority of His Word with a humble heart and broken heart.

In Isaiah 57:15 God says, “I dwell in the high and holy place, and with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite”.

May we each set aside everything possible and seek God’s presence and power together today, that He might revive His people once again.
