The past few weeks we have been learning about some of the different names of God, and with each name we are learning to trust Him in greater ways. We have been learning the very truth of Psalm 9:10—Those who know Your name will put their trust in You.
Today we come to the name Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord Heals. When it comes to the subject of the Lord healing, we are all over the map. Most all would agree that ultimately all healing comes from God. We primarily think of physical healing, and He does heal physically, sometimes instantly and sometimes through physicians and medical treatments. There are times when we need a miraculous healing, while at other times our situation is not as urgent. A brief reading of the four accounts of the gospels reveals that Jesus healed many of various afflictions.
The name Jehovah-Rapha can mean “to mend as a torn garment,” or “to repair as a broken-down building.” As we learn about Jehovah-Rapha, we are going to discover that he can heal a heart that has been torn apart, repair emotional walls that have been torn down, and remove the bitterness of disappointments in the barren seasons of your life, as well as heal physicially.
In Exodus 15:22-27 we will learn how we can put our trust in Jehovah-Rapha for the healing we need.
