You Only Live Once

Theme Verse: Philippians 4:4-9
Be full of joy always because you belong to the Lord. Again I say, be full of joy! Let all people see how gentle you are. The Lord is coming again soon. Do not worry. Learn to pray about everything. Give thanks to God as you ask Him for what you need. The peace of God is much greater than the human mind can understand. This peace will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Christian brothers, keep your minds thinking about whatever is true, whatever is respected, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever can be loved, and whatever is well thought of. If there is anything good and worth giving thanks for, think about these things. Keep on doing all the things you learned and received and heard from me. Do the things you saw me do. Then the God Who gives peace will be with you.

This Semester, we want to communicate one statement very clear:

“You only Life Once so make it count by Living for Jesus.”

The current generation has chosen a slogan for themselves. It’s called YOLO!! It stands for You Only Live Once!! Unfortunately, it is a slogan that excuses responsibility for their actions for giving themselves permission to do whatever feels good and pleases their own desires because ‐ You Only Live Once. There are several “assumptions” attached to this slogan that Christian teenagers need to be wary of You Only Live Once: You only care about yourself.

1. You Only Live Once: This goes against the hear of Christianity and leads us away from a “spirit lead” life.

2. You Only Live Once: Do what you want, when you want, how you want.
Once again, we understand clearly that this is the opposite of what Christ has asked us to do.

3. You Only Live Once: There is no greater purpose in live but to please myself.
There are no eternal consequences and no eternal reason to live my life to make a difference. As believers in Christ, we know that God has a purpose for our lives and that there are eternal consequences and rewards that make the life we live meaningful.
