Good morning! I’m glad to welcome you to worship today at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
The last time we were in our study through the book of Matthew, Jesus Our King, was December 11, 2016, when we were with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Today we discover how Jesus was betrayed as He came from His time of prayer in the garden.
In Matthew 26:47–68 we discover that Jesus was betrayed by one of His own disciples, and He is betrayed by the judicial system of His day. To be betrayed in any manner is both deeply disturbing and emotionally painful. As we study this passage, hopefully we will all learn about God in His sovereignty using all things for His glory and our good, and how even in the midst of unjust and unfair treatment in this life, ultimately God will set all records in order. That is why we are not to live just for the moment, but for eternity, and for God’s glory.
