God created, designed, and ordained the family, and He has a plan for your family. The very first priority for every family member is to love God. When a family loves God above all things, they will rise above all circumstances, regardless of what they may face. This is God’s plan for the family: mother, father, and children are to love God first, most, and more than they love anything or anyone else. Once that happens, our love for God will motivate husband and wife to love each other as Christ loved the church, and in turn, will serve as a model of love for the children who follow.
God’s plan for the family is found in Deuteronomy 6:1–8. At the very heart of what we find in these verses is a blueprint for building a strong family. Just as when Moses challenged the Israelites to love God and live according to His commands before they entered the Promise Land, we are challenged to embrace God’s plan for families and live it out.
With so much misunderstanding in our culture today, and in light of recent court rulings about marriage and the family, we must return to God’s Plan for marriage and family, building upon a foundation of truth that will bring God’s blessing into our family relationships.
